New Site Help

Hi All,

Disclaimer: First Post. Not even sure if this forum is the right place to start, or if I’m even qualified enough to even attempt everything I’m about to ask, but here it gores:

I’m starting my very first website, I thought it would be much easier as I have a lot of background in I.T. though no web development. I’m looking at starting up a site, and hoping for it to contain the below.

If you know of tutorials, plugins and or themes for any of these, a link would be very helpful:

1. I want to make a Database website to search a pre-defined list of movies.
2. I want the site to act as a search function, allowing you to view other fields once the user has inputted search terms (assuming SQL is needed here).
3. Each search result will return a new page result.

nice to haves:
4. Auto complete for search field. Search the Database table for the remaining ie: Typing in “Par” will suggest “Paranormal” but also “The Parents” for example. (I’ve read jquery may assist, how do I tie it to the database fields?)
5. Did you mean? results on 0 results for the above. ie: Searching for “The Parnts” will result “Did you mean: The Parents?” with a link to correct page.

As it’s my first site, I feel like I’ve bitten off more than I can chew… so starting small will be helpful. If I end up failing completely I may outsource it, but money is an issue.
