@arsenalemusica,
wpForo navigation is a simple WordPress menu navigation, please go to Dashboard > Appearance > Menus admin page, select wpForo navigation in the dropdown and add/edit any menu item you want. More info: https://wpforo.com/docs/root/getting-started/forum-menu/

I’m aware of the menu flow but that’s not working. Plus, it’s not exactly what I need, i.e. a tab with text and not shortcodes.
@arsenalemusica,
I’m sorry, but I cannot follow you. The menus don’t require shortcodes, so nobody asks you to add shortcodes. WordPress custom link menus asks for label and url, is this not enough for a menu item? It would be better if you explain your issue using some screenshot, I cannot understand what are you trying to do.

…but that’s not working
Initially the wpforo Navigation menu was not assigned to wpForum Menu, yet it was showing in the frontend. When I added a new menu it wasn’t showing unless I assigned it to wpForo Menu. This was unstranslated, as if it had pulled a default version of menus.
However that is now solved.
I need a tab with text and not shortcodes
The problem with the custom tab is that label and url are enough but that would link to a different page outside the forum, whereas I wish to show the content within the forum page (as all other tabs do)… as if it was an iframe
