New to WordPress

Hi everyone. I have a website built some time ago by a developer in Joomla v1.5 (). The site is an ecommerce site with custom configuration builders which allows customers to pick and choose pc components which updates the “cart” and then can be ordered directly through the site. There are not very many pages in the entire site, most of which are static. I’ve been looking through various themes and as there are so many I’m a bit overwhelmed. I am a newbie to WordPress and would greatly appreciate any help and guidance you can provide.

I want to keep with the black theme on all pages consistent with the current site. I will also need the applicable pluggin for the ecommerce functionality. I do not and likely will not use any of the widgets that relate to blogging. I want to keep the horizontal menus and submenus as this is the look we feel our customers expect. I have a banner for the company logo at the top as well as using a slider on the Home page, both of which I want to maintain.

I have been searching in the forums about page backgrounds and colors and noticed that the responses include CSS coding to which I’m somewhat familiar but was unsure if there are add-ons, pluggins where this functionality exists as I was unable to determine where to look.

Basically, I’m trying to re-build the entire site offline and then have my hosting account (GoDaddy) redirected once completed and disconnect the Joomla backend.

I look forward to hearing back from the community to help guide me in creating a new site in WordPress. If there are any questions at all, please let me know as I hope I have captured the main issues and questions I (initially) have…. I’m sure I’ll have more….. :/
