    I have a multisite network with Yoast SEO installed. I created a new user account and sent the user the account activation email. When the user clicks the link to activate their account, the page dies with the “technical difficulties” WordPress error. In the error log is the following message:

    PHP message: PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to a member function remove_hooks() on null in /var/www/clients/client20/web249/web/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/inc/options/class-wpseo-options.php:233\nStack trace:\n#0 /var/www/clients/client20/web249/web/wp-content/plugins/wpseo-local/classes/class-core.php(128): WPSEO_Options::get(‘company_or_pers…’)\n#1 /var/www/clients/client20/web249/web/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(286): WPSEO_Local_Core->enforce_company_settings(”)\n#2 /var/www/clients/client20/web249/web/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(310): WP_Hook->apply_filters(NULL, Array)\n#3 /var/www/clients/client20/web249/web/wp-includes/plugin.php(465): WP_Hook->do_action(Array)\n#4 /var/www/clients/client20/web249/web/wp-settings.php(525): do_action(‘init’)\n#5 /var/www/clients/client20/web249/web/wp-config.php(107): require_once(‘/var/www/client…’)\n#6 /var/www/clients/client20/web249/web/wp-load.php(37): require_once(‘/var/www/client…’)\n#7 /var/www/clients/client20/web249/web/wp-activate….

    Hopefully this helps you find the issue. I’ve deactivated the plugin for now. Thank you in advance.

    Apologies. I also have installed Yoast SEO: Local and upon deactivating this plugin, the error no longer exists, so the issue is not with the Yoast SEO plugin itself, just the extension presumably. Assuming though that it’s the same development team, I will leave this topic unresolved unless you all decide to mark it as otherwise, but hopefully the issue is still looked into.

    If you have purchased the Local SEO plugin you would need to contact us directly at [email protected] for assistance as this forum is reserved for support of the free version of Yoast SEO.

    Can you please confirm you are using the most recent version of both (v11.5) of both the Yoast SEO and Local SEO plugin? You can learn more about updating here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/

    This is a bug report, not a request for premium support. Considering this site belongs to a client, I don’t believe I’m going to waste my time trying to provide said purchase information. I didn’t realize I had to do so to report an issue with your plugin. I could understand maybe if it was support on how to use it, but for a bug that break’s the website of the purchaser? That’s just short-sighted. You should hire someone with development experience to review your plugins and offer this kind of feedback instead of trying to make sure you could charge them for it. Wouldn’t that make it worth more to the buyers? Just a thought. Thanks anyway for the response. You can close this ticket.
