New User Can’t Register

    I’m having a strange issue that I can’t accurately pin on BP Profile Search, or Xprofile Custom Fields, but it is definitely one of the two.

    When a new user fills out the register.php form, and they click the button to save, the system refreshes register.php and doesn’t save. Then, if the user tries it again, the same thing will just keep happening.

    The system works fine when I don’t use BP Profile Search, but it’s after I add BP Profile search that the problem starts. Also, if I delete BP Profile Search, the problem still persists.

    In a strict testing proceedure, I deleted the most recently added profile field, and then deleted it from the profile search. The problem persisted, so I deleted the next most recent profile field, and then deleted it from the profile search. I did this for about 6 fields, until eventually the system begam working again. (Started saving the new user instead of refreshing without saving.)

    Has anyone encountered this before? I will re-post this entry on the “Custom Profile Fields” support forum to see if it’s authors have any info on this topic.

    UPDATE: I resolved this problem. Here’s how:

    The problem was an unlikely suspect! It was Buddydev Conditional Profile Fields.

    I noticed that the problem stopped when I got as far back as deleting a conditional profile field. I set the condition to “N/A,” and then tried it. It worked! Then I went back and set the conditional profile field back to “Show if…” and it worked!

    Sometimes playing around is all it takes. Thanks anyway & I hope this message helps others.
