Is anyone aware if the USPS Simple Shipping for Woocommerce plugin has been updated to work with the new USPS Web Tools that is set to launch at the end of January? Not sure if it has been, and if so, is there anything needed on the plugin side to get it to work? I heard it was going to be updated in 2026, but we need time to work out any issues once the update takes place. Thanks.

    Hello @eibo,

The USPS WebTools platform will be shut down on 25 January 2026.

Starting on the date, USPS Simple will stop providing Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, and Retail Ground options to your customers.

First-Class Mail, Ground Advantage, Media Mail, and Library Mail will switch to retail rates, but will otherwise continue working as usual.

No actions required if you don’t use commercial rates, Priority Mail, or Retail Ground. Otherwise, please consider replacing them with custom shipping rules (see Weight Based Shipping or Tree Table Rate Shipping), using a custom code snippet, or switching to a different plugin that provides live USPS rates.

    Hello @dangoodman ,

Thank you for the detailed explanation.

I’d like to clarify our specific setup to understand whether the USPS Simple plugin will continue to work for us.

We do not ship directly through USPS and do not purchase labels via the plugin.
All shipments are handled through XPS.
The USPS Simple plugin is used only to display shipping quotes at checkout.

    Given this setup:

Will the plugin continue to provide shipping rate estimates after January 25, 2026?

Are there any limitations or changes we should expect if it is used solely for checkout rate calculation and not for commercial USPS shipping?

We want to make sure customers can still see accurate shipping quotes at checkout, even if actual fulfillment is handled externally via XPS.

Thank you in advance for your clarification.

    Best regards,
    Arzin

    Hello @arzin,

Given your setup, here’s how things will look after January 25, 2026:

Yes, the plugin will continue to return shipping rate estimates at checkout, but only for the USPS services that remain supported.

Priority Mail Express, Priority Mail, and Retail Ground will no longer be available at all, even just for quoting, once USPS Web Tools is shut down.

First-Class Mail, Ground Advantage, Media Mail, and Library Mail will continue to work, but they will return retail rates only, not commercial rates.

Since you’re using USPS Simple only for checkout quotes and handling fulfillment externally via XPS, there’s nothing special you need to do as long as those remaining services and retail rates are acceptable for your business.
