New Version 5.X Disaster

    I have been using this plugin for about 6 years and have many sites backing up to Dropbox. It used to be the best WP backup system on the planet! This new version 5 is terrible. Awkward to setup and I can’t seem to turn off backing up locally. Also why can’t we backup files and database together now? Hoping that they are aware of the issues and working on updates to make it as easy and reliable as the Version 4.

    Thank you for being a long-time user and for sharing your thoughts — we know how much trust and workflow this plugin has been part of.

    We’ve taken the feedback seriously and made major improvements since 5.0. As of version 5.1, multiple backup jobs are back, you can customize schedules and storage per job, and even rename jobs for easier management. ZIP and TAR formats are selectable again too.

    We’re aware that deselecting “Local” storage still feels confusing and we’re actively working to improve that. Also, combining files and database in a single scheduled job is something we’re exploring — right now, the “Backup Now” button does both manually, and we aim to make that more intuitive in future updates.

    We really appreciate you sticking with us, and if you try the latest version and it works better for you, we’d love to hear your thoughts. If anything still feels off, feel free to reach out — we’re here to help.
