i had a similar issue. clicking on the button didn’t do a thing.
deactiviating, uninstall … re-install and re-activating did the trick for me.
Backup Now button was working again 🙂

Hey@kreativhuhn,
This may happen because of an incomplete update.
Can you please try reinstalling to see if it helps?
Best regards,
I have the same problem. I also needed to deactive, uninstall … re-install and re-activate the plugin, on a lot of websites… Now the backup button works again.
Reinstalling helped, but now the old backups are not shown in the list any more. Not really convenient…
Same happened to me (button does not work). I need to use a previous backup, but to do that, it is recommended that I make a current backup. If I lose old backups by reinstalling, that defeats the purpose…
You don‘t really loose the old backups, they are still in the file system, but not accessibly via the BackWPup UI any more.

Hello @kreativhuhn,
Migrating old backups to the new UI will be possible soon. For now, I invite you to try the latest version, 5.1, with significant updates like multiple backup jobs.
Best Regards,
