Newb needs help!

I’m new with Linux (Ubuntu) and just installeed WordPress. Install worked fine and I’m starting to customize my WordPress site. I set up port-forwarding so I can access my site remotely and that works, except the site looks terrible when I come in from outside my local network. Like the css isn’t working or something? If I click on any link (like the first post) it fails and then the site won’t even load again. Is this a permissions issue? Could really use some help!
