Newbie layout question! PLEASE HELP

Hello,
I am new to WordPress, mainly because I was looking for a way to have a gallery/catalog website (Not a blog site).

I looked at a gallery plug-in called Nextgen Plug-in and fell in love with it, thing is, I am lost.

My goal is to have a site that looks just like this one: http://www.laurenbillings.net

It doesn’t look anything like a blog (very plain, how I like it) and it’s using the nextgen plug-in. How to do this? How can I just have a plain blank page so I can design my webstite in dreamweaver, copy/paste my code in wordpress and ultimately use the nextgen pic gallery plug-in to use the pic gallery!

I am in desperate need of help, any information about this will be greatly appreciated. I am looking too, believe me, but I just can’t find the answer…
