    I have made my first website in WP – http://www.heron.one

    I want the page “blog” to show only the most recent post and the primary side bar on the right side.

    No matter what I do the page “Blog” shows all posts.

    … Help please

    Blog page will show the 5 most recent posts with pagination to scroll back through all posts.

    To achieve what you are doing can be done with coding or some plugins.

    Not sure if one will do the job BUT you can try this:

    – Create “Page” called blog
    – Install “Widgets on Pages“
    – Put the “Recent Posts” widget into the Widgets on Pages sidebar in Appearance Widgets
    – Use the shortcode for that widget in the Page called blog
