Newbie Theme Problems

I am not sure where to start. I started a self hosted blog with Name Hero and wrote a few posts with a few more ready to go but I want the site ready for visitors before I upload much more. I was not happy with the layout so I changed the theme. I am not sure what I keep doing or how to undo it. I want to start with a simple layout but I can’t seem to remove the “theme”. I download new ones and it changes the posts, home page, ect but then I still have different layouts on different pages, ect. I am lost! 🙂 Any re-set button? Thanks!!!
