News Slideshow

I’m looking for a plugin, or from-scratch way to have news items from a given category scroll through on the screen like a slide show.

I use wordpress as an internal news site for my company. We use eventcalendar3 to advertise internal events. I want to put up a monitor in the break-room with the upcoming events, and some news items, scrolling by.

I invision having a category called “break room news” that items can be assigned to (in addition to their already-assigned categories) which will have them included in the slide show.

Can anyone help me?
