Newsitems

Hi,

WordPress is new to me and I can only adjust simple things on my website.

After the update the newsitems on my homepage show the content but I would like to see a summary. Like I had it before. I changed the <?php the_content(); ?> to <?php the_excerpt(); ?> on content.php but it did not work.

I would also like to adjust the text “continue reading”.

What are my options for these two issues? Thanks in advance!
