I too would like to be able to be able to format the description field as I am using it for thumbnail captions [nggallery id=1 template=caption], even simple WordPress formatting (line breaks) would be great.
Anyone?
Turned plugin http://ww.wp.xz.cn/extend/plugins/nextgen-tinymce-description/ off then back on again and it stripped all my captions #gone #dammitalltohell
I turned that plugin off and on (because it was showing unknown character symbol)and it made all my captions disappear.
