NextGen Gallery interferes with Multisite Network Admin display

    On WordPress Multisite, during installation of plugins, or update of Themes, NextGen Gallery interferes with display of installation progress and prevents display of Success message. The problem is evident in NextGen v2.1.15 and v2.1.23, and in WordPress v4.3.1 and 4.4.2.

    The problem does not occur with WordPress single site configuration, which is noticeable by the fact that during plugin installation (any plugin) progress messages are properly displayed to the right of the admin sidebar.

    If NextGen Gallery by Photocrati is Deactivated for the main site of a multisite, such that the Gallery icon is not displayed in the Network Admin sidebar anymore, new plugin installation progress is displayed properly.

    I noticed that the nggallery php files do not reference the function is_network_admin(). Maybe they should.

    The extensive testing done so far has resulted in all new plugins installed successfully. Just the success message and anything after it is missing.

    Until the problem is fixed, it would be helpful to know from a NextGen expert how confident I should be that deactivating NextGen for the main site and re-activating it will not lose any data.

    @ozminskisj – Deactivating and reactivating NextGEN Gallery in general will not cause any data losses.

    As to the installation layout issues, we will be looking into that.

    As Cais said de- and re-activating NextGen will not lose any data. I’ve looked the problem and have committed a fix; the next release of NGG will no longer have this problem. Thanks ozminskisj!
