• I’ve used NextGen for a long time now without any problems. But the other day, I upgraded my WordPress version to the newest 3.6 version (Swedish language)

At the same time, I upgraded NextGen to version 2.0.17

My old galleries are still working, but I cannot access ANY NextGen admin features. The browser session just hangs. I’ve tried with all my installed browsers, IE, Maxthon & Chrome. Same result.

Downgrading my NextGen version to the older 2.0.14 still doesn’t work, and downgrading WordPress is not an option…

Anybody else has the same problem??? Any ideas how to solve the problem???

    TIA,
    Johnny J.

  • Yes even 1.9.3 has some “loop” problems with 3.6 in admin panel. Keeps loading again and again, locking the admin.

Nextgen 2.0.17 is compatible with WP 3.6.
Try this: deactivate all plugins (Nextgen too) and activate default theme. Download on your desktop Nextgen 2.0.17 folder, then upload it via FTP, overwriting files. To avoid loading problems, specially if you have had in past max execution time failures or php memory limit problems, or anyway if you are on a shared server, you can upload “products” subfolder separately, i.e. not at the same time with the others files and folders. Maybe it’s useless, maybe may help.
When finished, you have to activate Nextgen first and look if it’s right. If it’s so, reactivate one by one theme and plugins to see every time if there are conflict and with what.

I couldn’t get it to work, and besides: I see that a lot of other people are having difficulties with WordPress 3.6, some the same as mine.

So I’ve had to do what I didn’t want to and downgrade WordPress to 3.5.2 and NextGen all the way back to version 1.9.13

Now everything is back to working order, and I’m going to be a lot more careful before updating anything again! 🙁

I´m having the same problem (and similar troubles) after upgrade to NG 2.0

That’s really a pity, what happens to our good old Nextgen! Since Nextgen 2.0 and WP 3.6 I have only troubles! Very bad!
I can confirm, that it does not work with WP 3.6 (Nextgen 2.0.*)

I’m actually more concerned about WordPress, because Nextgen doesn’t seem to be the only problem with version 3.6 as far as I can tell from Google… 🙁

I also have the same issue with NGG 2.0.17 it has messed up the viewing of all my galleries. this only happened after updating word press to 3.6 version. Now I don’t know what to do next. HELP

Well, considering the only plug-in I’ve had an issue with on any of my 5 sites I manage was NextGen, I’m pretty sure there’s an issue with this plug-in.

Johnny, I want to clarify if we’re having the same issue – front end works (for the most part), but the back-end completely disappears? My blog and pages where I insert the galleries fail to work, too.

I updated recently to WP 3.6. Before all worked perfect. After the upgrade things with NextGen are broken :(. I hade to temp deactivate NG because after update to 3.6 WP i am getting this kind of error, after i activate NG. Domain name changed 😉

Warning: is_readable() [function.is-readable]: open_basedir restriction in effect. ^^ as i wrote, before the update to WP 3.6 all worked like a charm. After update NG is broken.

sad, that none replied with a solution :/

In the meantime some guys in a WP forum posted an answer:

die Version 2.0.7 von NextGen verträgt sich offenbar nicht mit WP 3.6. Mit einem Downgrade sollte es wieder gehen -> http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/how-t…ack-a-version/

the Version 2.0.7 of NextGen obviously doesn’t work right with WP 3.6, with a downgrade it should work again.

^^ the pity is, that i am using NextGen in almost all my diff blogs on different hosters and webspaces. ALL are broken after the mandatory update to WP 3.6 🙁 and no writing of the devs – sad

P.S.: Checked all versions from 2.0.17 down to 1.9.13: latest working version is 1.9.13. Any tips?

I have upgraded to WP 3.8 now and gave NextGen gallery another try. installed Version 2.0.40 and still not working:

Warning: is_readable() [function.is-readable]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(D:\inetpub\vhosts\mydomain\httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/D:\inetpub\vhosts\mydomain\httpdocs\wp-content\plugins\nextgen-gallery\lang/nggallery-de_DE.mo) is not within the allowed path(s): (D:/inetpub/vhosts/mydomain\;C:\Windows\Temp\) in D:\inetpub\vhosts\mydomain\httpdocs\wp-includes\l10n.php on line 457

Any tips from the WP-staff how to solve this? I really would like to use NextGen Gallery, but it seems that only version is 1.9.13 is working
