Hello, I asked this same question in a previous thread but it was closed. I don’t understand where I should be looking for help with padding/spacing between thumbnails in my NextGen gallery. I DO NOT have the pro version, it’s just the free version that I downloaded a month ago.

I was told to put my inquiry in the specific forum to my problem, which is what I thought this was.

Could someone please tell me how to put padding/spacing in between the thumbnails? Ideally I would like the same amount of padding around each thumbnail. Also I would like each thumbnail to be larger.

A few years ago a developer made me a wp website with the NextGen gallery and I like what he did, here’s a link to what I want my page to look like: http://joanbreckwoldt.flywheelsites.com/plein-air/.

The only thing I can think is that NOW being able to adjust the padding requires the pro version? I don’t believe I had the pro version in the past, I still have the website and it looks like the plain old NextGen version, not the pro. I did try to export it and then import it to my new website but that didn’t work, it’s been 5-6 years so there have probably been many updates.

I am trying to follow the guidelines on this forum but I don’t understand where I’m supposed to seek help. If this for some reason is not the correct forum, even though what I have is not the pro version, could you please let me know where I need to post to ask for help.

    thank you,
    Joan

  • Hi @abreck,

You are using Pro Tile gallery display type ( that’s only available in NextGen Pro and NextGen Plus both being premium plugins ) for the gallery page that you have mentioned http://joanbreckwoldt.flywheelsites.com/plein-air/ and here we aren’t providing support for.

We aren’t allowed to provide support assitance for any premium features here in the forum so we are kindly asking you to ensure that you have an active membership with Imagely in order to submit a support question directly from your Imagely member’s account.

    Thanks for your understanding

If you are looking for help for NextGen Gallery ( free ) please ensure that you don’t have NextGen Pro activated plugin ( I have inspected the page’s source and I see that you are currently using it ) then change the gallery display type to a basic one, to be able to receive support ref any aspects of the NextGen Gallery plugin’s free features.

Thank you for your reply. I think the confusion comes in because the flywheel page you are looking at is my OLD website page. That’s what I want my NEW site to look like. A developer made the old site and unbeknownst to me, I now realize he used the pro version. When I made my new site http://www.joanbreckwoldt.com which is hosted by GoDaddy, I used the free version. (I had both these websites in my original post but I see here I have only referred to the OLD flywheel site, so I can see how that was confusing.)

My old flywheel site (with the pro version) will disappear in a couple of weeks, hosting runs out and I don’t need that site anymore. The only reason I even refer to it is because I like the way my two galleries look on that old site. I don’t need help with the old site, it looks great, it’s just that it’s done by a developer and it’s very static.

So, can I get help with my NEW website which has the free NextGEN gallery that I downloaded a couple of weeks ago? Though I suspect the free version just doesn’t have the feature to change the padding/spacing between thumbnails. I think at this point I have two choices: either see if anybody can help me with CSS or get the pro version. I don’t even know if CSS would be able to get me what I want, though code can do just about anything it seems!

What do you think the odds are of someone being able to help me with CSS? Or do you think I should just go ahead and get the pro version?

thank you for all your help,
    Joan

I’ve decided I am going to purchase the NextGEN Gallery pro.

Thanks for letting us know and please don’t hesitate to contact us directly using your Imagely member’s account should you have any questions.

Yes, some of the gallery display types have a setting that allows changing the spacing between the thumbnails and some others don’t. In some cases we can help with adjusting it via CSS ( if the setting is missing ) and in some other cases we can’t ( since the gallery display type uses a dynamic JS algorythm to position the images on a page )
