I am building a photo contest to benefit a non-profit using NextGEN Gallery and NextGEN Gallery Voting plugins. I am using the star rating system and allowing one vote per image (and no other settings).

When I am in IE8 or IE9 with compatibility view ON and I vote on an image in the gallery by clicking a star for that image, the stars change from the empty white stars to the orange star to indicate that I have voted, then quickly switches to my “Thank you for voting” message. THIS IS GOOD!

When I am in Firefox or IE8/IE9 (without compatibility view on) and I vote by clicking a star for an image, the stars change to orange to indicate my vote and stay orange.. I never get the “Thank you for voting” message. Then I go to a second image and vote on that image.. I get the orange stars for that second image, but the orange stars for my first image disappear at that point and go back to blank white stars, causing me to think that my vote was not registered for that first image. So I go back and vote on image 1 again.. orange stars for image 2 disappear and I get a rectangular red box below image 1 with no message inside.

Has anyone else had similar issues with this plugin? If so, hopefully you can point me in the right direction to fix it?! Yes I could ask voters to use IE with compatibility view ON, but I think we all know how that would turn out… a lot of emails telling me the site it broken and/or asking me how to turn compatibility view on.

The test site is at beta6.bigdogcreative.com if anyone wants to take a look.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, forgot to make that link live.. test site is at beta6.bigdogcreative.com

    Hey

What versions of WP, NGG and NGGV are you using?

Sometimes the theme’s CSS interferes with plugin.
Have you tries switching to the wordpress default theme and seeing what happens?

I will try have a proper look when I get a chance, but my CSS is pretty limited if that’s where the problem lies.

Let me know if you find anything more

Figured it out! There was a problem with the javascript reloading the voting area since an update in jQuery. I have not been able to test across too many browsers (checked FF6, Chrome 13, IE 9 all on Windows Vista), but I’m pretty sure it will work across all the major ones (it does use jQuery after all)
Please update and let me know if that fixes your problem!

Thanks again for the detailed report, they make life soooo much easier when hunting glitches!
