@Darrilyn – Yes, the plugin by Alex Rabe does need to be updated to work with the current version of NextGEN Gallery … and unfortunately I was not able to re-create an issue where the plugin caused a fatal error on my test site.
Developing a “Search” feature for the current NextGEN Gallery is on our to-do list, but feel free to reinforce your idea on our Feature Request form here: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/feature-voting/
… and if it is vitally important for you to have that functionality now, above and beyond all of the additional features the current NextGEN Gallery offers then this article on how to roll back to a NextGEN Legacy version may be helpful: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/how-to-rollback-a-version/
Thanks!

Hi
Please can you tell me which is the NG last version supposed to work with that plugin?
I need that function
Thanks
Hi StickFinger— I’ll get that to you. Right now my site does not work because I upgraded but I really need to migrate back to my old site with the old version. I’ll try to get it down this week.
I have migrated my http://geraldberreman.com website back to an august 2013 backup. This is the last backup I have where my Nextgen Search plugin worked. Once the Nextgen Gallery was updated to 2.+ versions the Nextgen Search Engine plugin no longer worked.
Here are the specifics of versions that would search photos:
Nextgen Gallery ver – 1.9.13
Nextgen Search Engine ver – 0.7.01
If you’d like to test how the site works: http://geraldberreman.com website try entering some words like:
mountains, Nepal, children, Sarona
This is the site I’ve created for a well known Anthropologist. We are archiving all his work and it’s essential that we can search for photos.
the new versions of Nextgen somehow do not allow this to happen. Hopefully this can be a feature added soon.
I’d thing the ability to search photos themes and words on a website would be essential.
Hi Darrilyn
Thank you so much for your feedback. I have a model agency site and search is vital (blonde, black, tall, age , etc).
BTW> please developers why don´t you consider updating this simple plugin?
And yes I´ve already voted at nextgen site for this feature
Thanks
StickFinger… Do you have a copy of
Nextgen Gallery ver – 1.9.13
Nextgen Search Engine ver – 0.7.01
I probably no longer have it on my computer but I could probably download it from the site and send it to you?
The biggest worry I have is “old plugins” make your site vulnerable to hacking so it makes me nervous not updating the site.
dandy
FYI, Nextgen Gallery no longer advises rolling back to version 1.9.13. From their blog: IMPORTANT NOTE! Rolling back to 1.9.13 is no longer supported and is likely to cause problems. Rollbacks should be limited to recent versions within the last couple months. Also, for anyone using Pro, any rollback should be limited to the minimum compatible version of NextGEN Gallery (v2.0.63).
I too am looking for a search engine that works with the new version of Nextgen Gallery.
NextGEN Gallery still has the NextGEN Search Engine by Alex Rabe on their list of recommended extension plugins. They should probably remove that one from the list, since it doesn’t work with the new version of NextGEN Gallery.
@joyfulcartoonist – Thanks for the suggestion, we are updating documentation on our site and that list will be heavily reviewed (and most likely severely edited) once it reaches the front of the queue.
– Cais.
Any news about updating this simple plugin?
And yes I´ve already voted at nextgen site for this feature:-)
Thanks
PS.
@stickfinger – We do not maintain NextGEN Search Engine by Alex, have you checked with him on this?
– Cais.
Thank you for your quick reply:
