I tried copying the captions to the Title metatag section in Lightroom before exporting for upload, but even then, no caption text is coming over.

@jmeyer54 – What is your workflow process from Lightroom to NextGEN Gallery? I think we would need more details on that to better understand what you are trying to describe.

    Thanks!

I have always exported the JPG photos I want to use from LightRoom to a new folder, reducing them in size to 1 MB, renaming them, adding a watermark, and keeping all meta data. I use a preset for the export, so that hasn’t changed. And I can see the caption text in the property settings for the exported files, so I know they are there.

I’m using the same procedure to upload the exported photos to a NextGen gallery: Choose Gallery > Add Gallery/Images, enter a name for the new gallery, click Upload files, browse to the folder on my hard drive, select all photos, click Select, then click Upload. It uploads all the files, but… no captions!

I’ve been using the same process for the last three months to create NextGen photo albums without any issue, but suddenly I can’t get the captions.

    Thanks for your help.

@jmeyer54 – Are you auto-resizing the images on upload as well? Have you tried using the import metadata bulk-action for the gallery after the images have been uploaded? Are you noticing any other discrepancies with the metadata of the images? Do you recall the last time this worked as expected?

I know that is a lot of questions but the answers may help narrow down the reason why this is happening now on your site.

    Thanks!

Hello,Cais. I’m not auto-resizing on upload (as far as I know). I just tried the bulk import metadata option, and it didn’t add the captions.
It appears updated the NextGen plug-in three weeks ago. My last successfully created gallery (with captions) was posted June 2. The one I posted June 3 had no captions. I don’t see any discrepancies with meta data, but when I view meta data in the new galleries, the only thing shown is image width and height.
    Thanks,
    Jennifer

I would also like to know if this plugin will display captions under images in a gallery mode please?

    thanks in advance

@jmeyer54 – Those setting look fine and since you have successfully uploaded images with captions since you last updated NextGEN Gallery I would suspect something else being updated may have caused this problem … have you looked into this issue with that perspective?

    Hi, Cais.
Just last night I was able to resolve this issue by resetting NextGen options to factory settings. (Sorry, I meant to mark as resolved sooner.) I don’t know what setting it was that was causing the problem or how it was changed, but I’m glad that it is cleared up now.
    Thank you for your help!
