    Hi Steve,

I’m not sure I follow you here. The listings can be displayed by themselves under Browse Ads link, but the main page will always show categories or categories + listings. Is that what you need?

Is there a way to show no categories? So say my classified ads page is set up on a page called ‘For Sale’ if there a way that the user can click on that page and the ads are already there without having to chose a category?

Ah, I see what you want now. You need to use the shortcode AWPCPSHOWCAT on a static page. That will display the listings for a given category. More on the parameters to use for it here: http://www.awpcp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3662&p=15817

I tried this but it didnt work for me. I hoverd over the catagory in my settings to find the ID which was 1, but when I update my page I just see this message

Category ID must be valid for Ads to display.

The only code on my page is [AWPCPSHOWCAT id=<1> children=false]

    Any suggestions?

oooops sorry I removed the < and > and it now works.

1 last question to help me achieve my goal. On the post ad section, it forces the user to chose a category, is there a way to make this not a required field or to hide it al together?

Thanks for your help with this

    Hi Steve,

Categories are fundamental to AWPCP, so there’s no way to prevent the user from having to select it, nor would I recommend hiding it. You might try changing the page JavaScript to auto-select the item if there’s only one category (sounds like that might be the case), to avoid them having to do it manually.
