    Hi All,

first of all, I’d like to thank you for this nice way to organize my FAQs. It works fine on a standalone page. However, if I use one of the widgets or one of the shortcodes within a Page Builder element, it won’t show and even loading of the whole page seems to be interrupted. I run WP 4.3.1 with the latest versions of Page Builder and Ultimate FAQs. Any ideas what I may look for, to solve this?

    best regards
    Florian

  • Hi Florian,

Thank you for letting us know of this issue. Our plugins were not create to be compatible with the Page Builder. As you may know, there are many plugins out there and it is difficult for us to make each and everyone of them work with others.

Our widgets were created to be used in the Appearance > widgets for the sidebars and footers. The issue of the page load is stemming from the JavaScript call. If you change the view from the page builder to the text editor, and take off the glitchy JS, the page loads. It however does not fit into the Page Builder layout.

We would suggest you working with the normal pages and the Widgets sidebar and footers for our plugin. We will make sure to discuss it among our developer team to take a look at the Page Builder.

If you find any solutions to it or further suggestions, we will be glad to take a look at them too.

    Best regards,

    Etoile Web Design

Same here. No go with Page Builder.
It even produce an error 500!
Only Plugin/Widget I know not to work with page Builder.

What a shame for this good FAQ plugin.

    Hi ldeschenes,

If you check your error log, is there an error that’s shown that could point us in the direction for why this might not be working?

Unfortunately, I cannot locate the error as I am on a share server and there is too many errors.

But you could reproduce the problem on your test site: Install “Page Builder by SiteOrign” plugin, create a new page, switch to Page Builder editor, add a line, add a Text widget to the line, add your shortcode to the text, publish, open the page. See for yourself (to a minimum it will not work, but your whole site might crash so take backup before).

It looks like when the shortcode is embedded into a widget it does not work properly. It does work fine on a normal page.

BTW, I see another treath that seems related “Lockup/Timeout when using shortcode in Thrive Content Builder”. Similar problem.
TEXT FROM THE OTHER POST:…this shortcode WORKS if the code is on a normal page, within the content edit area, but just blows up the site (lock down, time outs, other pages slow to a crawl) if the shortcode is used in any part of TCB.

    Hi ldeschenes,

Do you have any other plugins installed that use custom posts type and call them via a shortcode? That seems to be where the issue is based on a bit of testing, so if you’ve got an example of one that works we’d love to see it.

Have a look at “Display Post Shortcode” plugin https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/display-posts-shortcode/

I use it in Page Builder with a Text Widget, just as I described in my previous post. The shortcode text that I use is [display-posts post_type=”advert”]

    Hope you find the issue!

    Hey ldeschenes,

Thanks for the example, give version 1.2.10 of Ultimate FAQs a try.

Version 1.2.10 made Ultimate FAQ working with Page Builder.
But it created a new problem: Some unwanted widgets get display.

I use GeneratePress Theme and I could format page with “Content Only” or “Content and Sidebar”. Sidebar are for widgets.

With the version 1.2.10, event if I set “Content Only” the widgets would show IN THE MAIN PAGE AREA.

You are obviously on the right track to fix the problem but maybe you should go back to 1.2.9 version (making a 1.2.11 version) and do some more testing before releasing the correction.

    Sorry for the problem.

    Hi ldeschenes,

Would you mind posting a link to your site? The widgets definitely aren’t displaying in the main area on our test server.

    Look at this page:
    http://lelaurier.net/foire-aux-questions/

The green box is a Text widget. It contents a Box and your Recent-FAQ shortcode but it could have been anything else.
The Widget does show on the right Sidebar if I set the content to “Content/Sidebar”. Which is fine.
But the page above has the content set to “Content Only”. The sidebar does not show but the Widget shows at the bottom of the main area.

    This page utilize Page Buider
    http://lelaurier.net/faq-page-builder-test/

In this case, the page is set to “Content only (no sidebar)” but the sidebar still shows with same Text Widget.

    Hope this help.

    Alright, let’s give 1.2.11 a try! Haha

    Great job!
Widgets are now only showing when page is set to “Content/Sidebar”
    Thanks!

P.S. Just for my curiousity, could you explain shortly:
    1) What was causing the problem with Page Builder
    2) Why Widgets would show in 1.2.10

    Hi ldeschenes,

Thanks! If you like the plugin and have a minute to leave a review, they’re super appreciated.

I don’t know exactly what the issue was with Page Builder. They must have some kind of strange filter on queries that use the WP_Query object, because it would run the query over and over again unless the query was turned into a standard WordPress loop, which was pretty unexpected behaviour.

The widgets issue was caused when we switched our query to use a standard WordPress loop in V1.2.10, and didn’t add the reset post data function at the end.
