No Lightbox hyperlinks anymore

    Lightbox is not working any more since a few weeks.
    It work flawless until around May.

    I am on newest versions (Metaslider 3.100.1, Metaslider Lightbox 2.0.0) and since a few weeks, there is now “hand” when hovering over the Metaslider image(s).
    Both on Mac OS, iPad and IOS, all newest versions and using Safari as browser. I tested also with Firefox, also no
    I use Firelight Pro (newest version 2.5.4) as my lightbox plugin. Their support already did some check, and their feedback was “the images in Metaslider need to be a link”.

    –> I am quite sure that this was case before.

    (Typo above: 4.000.1 is the Metaslider version)

    I rolled back Metaslider to 3.99 and Metaslider Lightbox to 1.13.4
    –> Everything is working !

    Then updated Metaslider to 4.100.1, but left Metaslider Lightbox on 1.13.4
    –> Still working
    –> But: Page build-up has become very slow. Extremely, not acceptable.

    With update of Metaslider Lightbox to 2.0.0
    –> No working.

    I rolled back to 3.99 and 1.13.4, the last versions woking properly.

    Hi @michaelacwp thank you for the detailed report of what’s going on on your site. Can you please try updating MetaSlider to 4.100.1 (latest version) and then installing this version of MetaSlider Lightbox. This should have the fix for using third-party plugin like Firelight Pro.

    Thank you for the quick response.
    The fix works – with Metaslider 3.100.1 and Metaslider Lightbox 2.0.1 (your linked version) the hyperlinks are there, Firelight Pro opens.

    What is still the case: Page build-up is awfully slow, compared to Metaslider 3.99

    Addendum: Rollback to Metaslider 3.99, but still Metaslider Lightbox 2.0.1
    ==> Hyperlink for Firelight Pro working
    ==> But page build-up speedy, no complain.

    For the moment, I stick with this combination, until performance is repaired.

    @michaelacwp Thanks for using MetaSlider. When it comes to the performance, we’ll need some more details, please. Can you share some performance testing details, or a link to a test / dev site with the slideshow so we can see any slowness?

    This page https://www.familie-becker-feldmann.de/kalifornien-2002/ has

    • on the left side the slider “aaa-sidebar-1”, with 209 images. This slider is my “best of photographs”, and is on each page of the website.
    • on the upper right a small slider with only 8 images.

    With 3.99 I have the following timings:

    • Opening https://www.familie-becker-feldmann.de/kalifornien-2002/ –> instantaneous. With or without clearing the browser cache.
    • Opening in WordPress the slider aaa-sidebar-1 takes approx. 25 sec. I takes a while, until the images and texts can be edited. Note: In some versions prior to 3.99, this opening for edit took painful several minutes. I went for a coffee …

    With 3.100.1, the pages opens in approx. 10 sec. With empty browser cache as well as when all 209 images are in browser cache.
    Open for edit takes 32 sec. So a bit slower, but not the several minutes as in some older versions.

    Some other hints:

    • I have a relatively fast internet connection, 50 MBit. But also in my office, with 4 GBit, it’s that slow.
    • In total, I have 1064 Metasliders. So a lot.
    • There is a glitch: For aaa-siderbar-1,
      – Metaslider shows in WordPress 123 slides (see screenshot 1)
      – but in reality, there are 209 slides (screenshot 2)
      I checked and counted: There are 209 images, all I can edit.
    • I left my website on 3.100.1

    Hope this helps, looking forward to getting feedback.

    Addendum:

    • On other sides, it takes much longer to open, in the minute range
    • And, it seems that creating the slider code takes even longer – after 5 min, the lightbox-hyperlink was still not there.

    I can leave only for a short time this slow version – please let me know, whether you need my site with 3.100.1 – and if, how long.

    @michaelacwp Can you try using the default lightbox feature in the MetaSlider Lightbox plugin? https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/ml-slider-lightbox/. Don’t use a 3rd party plugin. Try using that plugin by itself.

    I deactivated Firelight Lightbox, set the options in Metaslider Lightbox to open for images, galleries and videos.

    Exact same timing: It takes 10 sec to 1+ minute to open a page.

    But some strange behaviour:

    • The Metasliders show now a button “open in lightbox”.
      This opens the (small) preview image, not the full image.
      There is additionally a hyperlink on the sliders –> but this opens the full image in a new tab. Not lightbox.
    • The large aaa-sidebar-1 slider does show lightbox hyperlink. Not the button “open in lightbox”
      But, it opens also in a new tab, not in lightbox.
    • Videos do not open in lightbox – also in new tab. See here, video is in the image top right.
    • What is working with your lightbox: Envira galleries and single images. There is a hyperlink, and lightbox opens the full size image.

    I tried to revert to 3.99 –> same behaviour, Metaslider Lightbox not working properly.

    I checked in 3.99 again with Firelight Pro –> working properly: Fast page opening, Metasliders, Envira galleries, Video, and the big sidebar Metaslider … all working properly.

    I left my site again in 3.100.1, Firelight Pro deactivate, Metaslider Lightbox active.

    I installed the updated version MetaSlider Lightbox 2.02, and updated MetaSlider to 3.100.1
    ==> Same, it takes 10-11 sec to open a page.

    Rolled back to MetaSlider 3.99, keeping MetaSlider Lightbox 2.02 ==> instant open.

    With this 3.100.3 (and MetaSlider Lightbox) it’s still in the 10-15 sec loading time.
    So no improvement.
    3.99 and earlier versions are below 1 sec.
