No option to decrease the 1000 links per page

Hello,
My website has 2300 pages. I got recommendations to keep XML files no larger then 200 links per page avoid over load of my shared hosting server. But your plugin won’t allow to decrease the default 1000 value but just to increase it.
What is the logic behind the decision to keep this value so high and to block decreasing?
