• I need to edit some styles on a site. I added the code for the tagline to show in the header, but I want the tagline to appear beneath the logo, not beside it.

    http://mbodied.staging.wpengine.com/

So, I go hunting for the style, so I can edit it. The problem is, the styles.css I find in the editor has no styles defined in it, so I know I must be missing something.

    Anybody have any suggestions?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!

  • Hi Sivapriya,

There is most likely a CSS folder inside of your theme with one or more style sheets. Important note before you go editing your theme’s CSS: Make sure you make a Child Theme, or future updates to the theme will most likely overwrite your changes.

Alternatively, if you just need to add a little CSS for a couple of style changes, use a plugin to add custom CSS to your site, something like one of these:

    WP Add Custom CSS
    Simple Custom CSS

    JetPack
    WooDojo

    Hope this helps!

So, I’m guessing that means I need ftp access to the host?

It’s been a while since I edited the styles on my own wordpress site. This is actually something I’m doing for someone else.

    Thanks for the info!

    Hi Sivapriya,

Yes, either FTP access or some sort of File Manager access (like cPanel File Manager). If that’s difficult to obtain, maybe try one of those plugins I mentioned instead.

    You are welcome!
