Hey guys. I found a problem in my Web Stories. When opening the content in the browser, I saw that the title did not appear in the tab.

When looking at the source code, I saw that the <title> tag doesn’t exist inside my <head>.

I also saw that the property=”og:title” meta is ok, this one appears normally. So when sharing the content on social media, it shows the title ok.

When I test the link in Search Console, it says everything is ok, but the title I see in the result preview example is the title of an object used in the story design and not the real web stories title.

I couldn’t find out if the <title> failure is an AMP plugin or a Yoast related issue. I’m at a loss to resolve this…

Updating: with the “Plugin Organizer” I disabled the Yoast in the Web Stories pages and that solved the problem.

With Yoast disabled, the title appears in the browser. But I don’t know how to solve the problem keeping Yoast.

Updating 2: Just to make sure it was an incompatibility with Yoast, I disabled all plugins on the site. I kept only Web Stories and Yoast actives and the result kept the problem.

With that I see that the only conflict for not showing the title is with Yoast.

Updating 3: I just found out that my theme was causing this incompatibility with Yoast and Stories.

My solution: as I can’t change my main theme, I used a multiple themes plugin to choose a specific theme for the story pages.

This solved the problem and even gave me the possibility to customize the stories archive page. 😀

Glad to hear you were able to identify the underlying issue here!

To confirm, it’s an incompatibility with the Multinews theme? Looks like this theme is no longer being sold nor maintained, so maybe it’s time for you to look for alternatives. Otherwise we’d be happy to look into possible fixes on our side for it.

Also, nice how you customized your archive page! We’re actually working on a feature that would allow you to select a custom page in WordPress to act as the archive page, so you could customize it entirely via the block editor. Or alternatively to disable it completely.

Is this something you’d be interested in using?

Yes, I was very happy that it worked.

I see the incompatibility with a set:
My theme + yoast + WS: no title
My theme + WS: title ok
Other themes + Yoast + WS: title ok

My theme is not really available anymore, however on the support forum they are working on updates to get it back. It appears to be a temporary break.

Fortunately this multiple themes solution seems to be working fine.

I think the option to customize a stoires archive page is very good and necessary. For now I created a redirect to another page and customized it using blocks and ws plugin.

Now I have this result and I’m very happy:
