    edit to edit number in customize->homepage featured category->layout and style->excerpt count->edit it, not just save.

    I have done the above, I have checked all the settings and put them on Show Excerpt, but the site is still not showing any exceprts

    could you check what’s wrong? It does show excerpts in the costumizer.

    did you clear your site cache?
    also when in customize->homepage featured category->layout and style->excerpt count-> try edit it to 30 and save setting, it need to refresh the customizer ajax.
