I am trying to check out the plugin on the backend of my live site .,. but when activated my users see a ‘create smart contract button’

not ideal — can’t see where to turn that off

You can add this CSS at your theme level:
```
li#wp-admin-bar-wpsc-create-sc {
    display: none!important;
}
```
That will do the trick
