• Hi,

I believe I may have some how deactivated the admin/toolbar, somehow, when I first starting my site. I now want it back but can’t figure out how to get it! Things I have tried:

    1) Made sure the “Show Toolbar when viewing site” is ticked in profile.
    2) Added show_admin_bar(true) to top of functions.php file.
    3) Made sure that show_admin_bar(false) didnt exist in any file.

    What else could it be?

    Thank you.

  • Steps to figure out your issue, in order. Check and see if your issue is resolved after each step.

    1) Disable All Plugins
    2) Switch to the TwentySeventeen theme
    3) Contact Your Host
    4) Ensure you have no “mu-plugins” ( Should be an extra link on the plugins page at the top, near “Active, Inactive, Recently Active” called “Must-Use”
    4) Reinstall WordPress
    5) Check browser plugin/extensions as it’s not a WordPress issue.

Its a live site with 1 million visitors per month. I guess I would have to make a copy of the site to do that. I am not sure its worth it. Thank you anyway.

Right, what you’ve done so far should had worked so unfortunately, you would just have to narrow it down. You can bring the theme and plugins locally without really bringing any content or images which is usually the bulk of load. By doing so it would speed up the process of creating a local dev environment for testing.
