I state, I’m Italian and I do not write English very well.
I have a problem with the following plugin, I followed all the steps but when I insert the shortcode within my wordpress page can not see anything!

I must first load the pdf file through the media option and then put the shortcode
before and after the shortcode or upload documents?

    I’m going crazy
    thank you!

    Hi pcmaurix,

Let me try to help you figure out what is happening.

Firstly, can you give me an example of the shortcode you are using (e.g.: [dg ...])?

    Thanks,
    Dan

Do you have any attachments on the page/post that you are including the shortcode with? You can check this by clicking the “Add Media” button on the post you have these shortcodes in, then in the drop-down menu, selecting “Uploaded to this page.” (If you are using a version of WP in Italian then the links will likely be some translated version of the quoted text I provided.)

With Document Gallery, in order for any document icons to be displayed you must have all of the documents attached to the page where you are using the shortcode (at least, that is true when using the simplest use case). I believe that may be the issue that you are running into.

nothing to do, unfortunately, I give up the plugin does not work
    could be my theme?

    anyway thanks so much

I doubt that it is the theme. Document Gallery is designed to be displayed within any theme. Unless a theme were to actively hide the HTML created, you would be seeing something.

If you are willing to work with me, we can resolve this issue. The examples you were showing above don’t match proper shortcode usage, but until I know what you are trying to do, I can’t provide you with the correct usage.

I’m going to mark this as resolved for now, but if you want to continue debugging then I just need some more information about what it is you are trying to do and what attachments are on the page/post that you are using the shortcode on.

    All the best!

If your goal is to insert the actual document into the post/page, then this isn’t the plugin for you. A good option for that is Google Doc Embedder.

You actually used that plugin’s shortcode ([gview]), in your post earlier.

This plugin creates a gallery of icons which can be clicked in order to go to the document, that is what you are seeing in the screenshot that you linked to.

but that is just what I want! I am interested in having a gallery of icons that I click open the PDF document, word, etc …

but using the HTML just mentioned above does not work, how should I use the shortcode and HTML coice to make it work? my version of wordpress and 3.6

“Google Doc Embedder” does not interest me!

    Sorry for the delayed response.

If I understand correctly, you’re asking to be able to click on a document and have the embedded document appear. Is that correct?

If so, this is functionality that does not yet exist in Document Gallery. It is planned for the future.

In the meantime, you can take a look at Attachments++, which is a plugin I recently released which automatically embeds all of your documents on their attachment page. This plugin, combined with [dg attachment_pg=true] should result in something close to what you are looking for.

    Hope this helps!
