non-registered category subscribe

    there’s no technical limitation that prevents allowing unregistered users to subscribe to categories, so why is this feature available only to registered users?

    To encourage WordPress signups and because it’s not a feature we’ve wanted to develop and support.

    Also while technically possible, it does not provide a very good front end user experience. Checks would need implementing to ensure access to settings is only granted to the email address owner, a password or some level of authentication would be needed so why not use what WordPress provides already and sign up.

    i prefer openness and ease – i have no sign-ups on my site because i don’t wish to make people jump through hoops to leave a comment or subscribe to content they like
