If Jetpack is enabled to allow users to subscribe and login as WordPress to comment, when a user comments they get the following error:
    Nonce verification failed.

If I turn off the two jetpack comment settings: “
Let visitors use a WordPress.com, Twitter, or Facebook account to comment” and “Let visitors subscribe to new posts and comments via email” then users can comment just fine. Seems to be connected to Jetpack’s comment-management features.

  • Hi @johnfixesstuff

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the issue with Jetpack Comments. I understand that you’re experiencing a “Nonce verification failed” error when Jetpack’s comment-management features are enabled, specifically the options to allow users to log in with WordPress.com, Twitter, or Facebook, and to subscribe to new posts and comments via email.

I tried to leave a comment on the page you shared and encountered the same error.

This error is related to the security feature called “nonces” in WordPress, which helps prevent unauthorized actions on your site. In this case, it seems that the nonce verification is failing when the Jetpack comment features are enabled.

To help resolve this issue, please try the following steps:

    1. Ensure that your WordPress installation, theme, and all plugins are up-to-date.
    2. Clear your site’s cache, as well as your browser cache.
    3. Temporarily deactivate all other plugins except for Jetpack, and then test the commenting functionality. If the issue is resolved, reactivate the plugins one by one to identify any potential conflicts. This support guide talks about a way to do this type of troubleshooting in a manner that is non-disruptive to your site’s visitors.
    4. If the issue persists after trying the above steps, it might be helpful to disconnect and reconnect Jetpack. You should be able to use the Comments feature without the Jetpack connection, but this might help.

    I hope this helps.
