Thanks for sharing your honest feedback with us. I am sorry to hear about the issue you are facing with email notification.
The issue is likely because the emails sent from WordPress are not authenticated (unlike emails sent directly from dedicated email service providers). As a result, they are likely to be filtered by the receiving mail server.
Can you confirm if you are using an SMTP plugin on your site so that your emails are authenticated? Are you seeing any errors while testing the mailer you are using currently with it?
If you have not setup an SMTP plugin on your site yet, we recommend using it to resolve email delivery issues like this. We have an article with a list of recommended SMTP options and links to their setup tutorials.
