[Not A Valid Template]
-
Since the last update I’m getting a [Not A Valid Template] error message with my NextGen random thumbnail display widget. In the link shown, you will find this on my right sidebar about halfway down the page.
Please advise when we can expect a patch, or provide me with a work-around other than removing this widget completely.

Hello Juwel,
I received your direct email concerning this issue. With all due respect, your response (posted below) makes absolutely no sense.
I have no idea what you mean by “Repair or remap invalid templates,” or “Restore random thumbnail widget output.” I’m asking NextGen developers for a “safe workaround without data loss.” Because I don’t understand how your code works. If I did, I’d build my own image galley and not use your plugin.
As far as “Diagnose NextGen update related conflicts,” I’ve already done that. This issue started with your last software update. Going through this forum, I see a number of other people also reporting the exact same issue as me, and their issues started with your last software update. So, all things point to your latest update having a bug that prevents your image gallery widget from working properly.
Kindly fix this bug, and if you’re even more kind, provide me with a safe workaround with a description I’m actually able to follow.
Thank You,

I understand the recent update is triggering a Not A Valid Template error in the NextGen random thumbnail widget, affecting sidebar display. This usually occurs due to deprecated template files, widget compatibility changes, or missing template mappings that require adjustment or a safe workaround without removing the widget.

Hey @redtravelmaster ,
We found that the [Not a valid template] issue occurs either when using a custom template for you gallery layout or if you had a Legacy (Old) Template selected on a gallery.
Our team is aware of the issue and is actively working on a fix that will be included in an upcoming update.
In the meantime, if you were not using a custom template for a gallery, then you could you please be sure none of your galleries are using a Legacy Template?
To do this go to a page with a gallery using the NextGEN Gallery Legacy block > Edit gallery > Customize Display Settings > make sure the Legacy Template is set to Default: https://a.supportally.com/i/P2Hh1c
I’ve marked this thread to reach out as soon as the update including the official fix for this has been released!
Thanks!
