When I try to use a template like gallery-caption under NEXTgen basic thumbnail, I get “Not a valid template” message. This appen even if I select others templateand even if I select the template under “Customize the display settings” in Display Gallery edit browser.

The goal would me for me to use Basic Thumbnail but showing file name under thumbnail.

    Many thanks,
    G

@profc – Are you trying to insert the gallery via a shortcode or are you using the IGW (“green button”)?

Also, are the template files actually in your installation? They are located here by default:
    /products/photocrati_nextgen/modules/ngglegacy/view

… and to display the image filename you will need to create a custom template as no currently included NextGEN Legacy template displays that detail by default.

    Thanks!

I checked the direcotory and everything’s fine, I can see all php template file.
I’ve inserted the gallery via IGW, since last update I use this new feature, but template don’t work.
    Many thanks for tour support.

@profc – Can you provide a link to where this issue is happening?

    http://www.sofiaamoddio.it/rassegna-stampa
(here I choose “Use Imagebrowser effect” since I need to have a full width image and this is the gallery where I’d like to put title blow image)

    http://www.sofiaamoddio.it/media

This page contains an album with three galleries

    Many thanks again,

@profc – I’m not seeing any particular issue with either of those pages, The ImageBrowser display is working fine and the albums are leading to galleries that open the Lightbox effect you have selected for the site.

You may need to clear the image cache under Gallery > Other Options > Miscellaneous and possibly your browser cache as well.

To move the ImageBrowser “title” below the image display you would be best to create a new custom template (copy the imagebrowser.php NextGEN Legacy template) and move line 21 (<h3><?php echo $image->alttext ?></h3>) to a more appropriate place that suits you needs.

    Thanks!

    Many thanks for your answers.

I would like to know the differences in template (caption, carousel etc.), since I cannot change it.

Besides that, I would like to put title under the thumbnails? Is there a template for that or an option to activate?

@profc – The templates you are referring to are for the NextGEN Basic Thumbnails display.

The “caption” template would display the image description beneath the thumbnail.

The “carousel” template would create a display with a large main image and the balance of the thumbnails as smaller images beneath the main; these images are clickable to display as the main image.

To put the title under the image I would suggest a custom modified copy of the “caption” template as the place to start.

    Thanks!

“caption” template would be perfect for me since I could put a short description of the Thumbnail on my press page. The problem is that I cannot use it: if I select gallery-caption.php from customize the display settings in IGW settings menu I get not valide template message on the web page.

I need help to fix this problem.

@profc – Can you take a screen shot of the Customization settings that are not working and share a link to is here?

It may help, but we may also need to have a closer look at your site as well. You may need to submit a Bug Report (http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/ … please reference this topic) with your site specifics.

We would likely need log in and FTP credentials for your WordPress installation as well, please include those with your Bug Report.

    Thanks!
