    Dear Support,

I am contacting you because since last December (5 months ago) I have discovered that Shield Security is not compatible with SG Optmizer, a very famous and mandatory plugin for websites hosted by SG.

Your plugin requests users to disable important features part of SG Optimizer. I hoped that this was just a brief temporarily solution.
Did you manage to solve the compatibility issues of Shield Security?
Is there a way I can still keep using Shield Security without disabling features (Defer Render-blocking JS, and Remove Query Strings From Static Resources) of SG Optimizer?

    Thanks for your support.

    F.

    Unfortunately not.

It doesn’t matter how “famous” a plugin is. If its “features” break things, then we can’t be compatible with it.

The features actually don’t make much sense. Sure, the principles upon which they operate are sound. But there’s no way that a general-use plugin can possibly accurately determine which JS can, without errors, be deferred. This should be done on a per-script basis, and with testing.

Most people don’t test, however. They see a checkbox that implies “make my site faster”, and they just check it.

Equally, the plugin cannot accurately determine which resources should be static. So it breaks caching rules by making everything static. And again, people check these boxes without due diligence and then we see people’s sites break because “Shield has a bug”, which it doesn’t.

Providing support because a plugin’s “features” break the site is not viable.

I’m sorry if this isn’t what you want to hear, but thanks for checking with us.

We’ll review the settings again and see if the incompatibilities still apply.
