For me it’s different. Even when the plugin is active I can still publish without featured image in WordPress 5.0 editor.
It would be really nice to have a fix for Gutenberg. This is such a useful plugin if you have a large number of authors to shepherd.
The changes already made in Github look pretty minor but I don’t have experience with the JS front end of WP or I’d have a stab at it myself. Maybe if things get bad….
Same for me not working in WordPress 5.0 with Gutenberg editor. Please can you update and fix! 🙂
With classic editor on wp 5.1.1 it’s not requiring anything 🙁

relax guys, this plugin is outdated and not supported as you can see.. sad time… and you can delete this plugin
@ivaseg I find it tough to relax; I need this for my site. That being said, it doesn’t fail entirely on 5.1.1. It’s that the button disable does not work. At least with blank posts, if it has a title, I get the warning screen and wp_die, and it doesn’t publish. If it doesn’t have a title, it doesn’t publish but I get no warning sign.
