Hi, @functionmunchkin)!
I couldn’t see the discussion because I’m not a member.
Anyway, some themes aren’t flexible enough to work with external images.
But you can try to enable the toggle “This plugin doesn’t work, man”, in the plugin settings. There is a better explanation there.
Let me know what happens.
Marvelous. On many anyway.
Except now it sounds like I wouldn’t be able to use your premium features.
Also it seems to have ripped out from the editor in admin the external ones that don’t work.. so I don’t remember what thumbnails they had to re-add them : /
The ones generating your default thumbnail on the front still show the image in the back. It might just be the ones that show nothing on the front which got ripped out from the back.
Some show in some homepage blocks but not in others. Some that show in thumbnails don’t show any featured image on the post. Some that show featured images on the post don’t show your thumbnails on the home and not the post’s image.
Storing the urls would be great against this..
Any way to revert? I’m really going to need to get the ones which didn’t work back the admin.
Hi, @functionmunchkin.
As I have said “some themes aren’t flexible enough to work with external images”. The toggle you have enabled is an attempt to do the main feature work. But not all features will work. It’s a theme issue, then the plugin couldn’t solve that
About the URL, they are stored. You could get that enabling Screen Option > Custom fields in the post/page editor.
Let me know if you got it.
I see the stored links in custom fields. Thanks.
The theme is blaming the plugin.
Tears. Completely changes my workflow..
If I delete this to try other plugins, will my pics be there if I add this plugin back?
And I’m not blaming anyone, @functionmunchkin. I’m justing saying your theme was done to work with internal featured images only, what is a common thing in the WordPress world.
You can deactivate or remove the plugin. Don’t worry about that. You won’t lose anything.
I mean your external pictures will be shown again if you decide to install the plugin again.
Hi, @functionmunchkin.
I talked to your theme developer.
Publisher theme is now compatible with the free version of Featured Image From URL.
That is awesome! I hope it’s a profitable collaboration for you both.
