Not excerpted post

If I leave Excerpt check box empty, I am not getting any post text at all. If I choose Excerpt, it is always 255 symbols long, any number I am entering in the length.
Is there any problem? Or I am doing something wrong. You can see it on the home page: http://www.itissible.com
