    I downloaded and tried to use theme Just Landing (free version.)

    The “instructions” (using that word is a real stretch!) included with the theme were incomplete, unclear, and I simply could not understand how to use the theme.

    I emailed the author. I did get a near-instant response.

    The ONLY support is via email, according to the response.

    I sent another request, with a couple of examples of what I was trying to do and what happened. (There were some unexpected and unexplained results.) I asked for guidance, or tell me where I could get help.

    Here’s the response:
    “I am sorry this theme couldn’t meet your requirements. That one page theme.”

    If anyone understands how to use this theme, I’d appreciate it if you’d share the knowledge. It looks like it could be a useful theme.

    I intend to waste NO more time trying to use this theme.

    (Zero stars would be more appropriate, in my opinion, but such a rating is not available.)

    Why didn’t you ask for assistance in the support forums? Email typically is for the paid version of a theme or plugin.

    Thanks for the response, Jan.

    Why didn’t you ask for assistance in the support forums?

    Here’s why:

    1. There were only two entries on the support forum.
    2. In both cases, the author replied “I rarely visit this site.”
    3. No members had offered help to those two, possibly because the number of downloads is only 2k+.

    It isn’t that I’ve not tried to use this theme. I’ve probably spent two or three hours working on it, or looking for answers on the ‘net.

    I’ve spent all of 15 minutes using the theme and that was after you’ve left your review. It’s not really different from any other theme with a dedicated landing page. This one’s just even more Landing Page’ish.

    The point I am making is that you’ve found the review section, why didn’t you find the support section? You can leave any review you want but without seeking support in the forums that’s not really valid.

    Using those metrics really doesn’t do anything for your problem.

    I DID go to the theme’s support page, long before I posted my review.

    I even stated my reasons (see post above) why I did not seek help there.

    A review is what the reviewer thinks of the product, right? I tried and tried to use it. I sought help from the author, whom I thought would be the best —and possibly only— source of help.

    Although the author did answer promptly, for which I give an A+, he offered essentially NO help.

    One purpose of reviews is to help others decide whether or not they wish to use the product. I wanted others who were considering it to know the issues I had with it so they, possibly, would not waste so much time.

    I tried to keep it factual. And of course the opinions are mine alone.

    Potential users can read it, then make their own decision as to whether or not it is something they want to use.

    It sounds as if you figured out how to use it in 15 minutes. Do you plan to post instructions here or anyplace for the benefit of the 2k folks who have downloaded it? Do you care to Skype me (keitharden) and talk me through it?
