• I am having a problem with the excerpt seemingly not removing a shortcode.

Every day I publish several text posts and one that contains a poll using shortcode of the format [yop_poll id=”274″].

Today rather than cutting off where the shortcode is I have a huge line of code showing in the excerpt.

This happened once before when (I think) the “Remove shortcodes from the excerpt. (recommended)” had become unchecked. I noticed it was unchecked again today but have rechecked it. However, the line of code is still showing.

I created a new post in case it was some kind of chache issue but that one is showing the code too.

The url is http://schoolsimprovement.net/ – scroll down the first page until you see “Today’s poll:”

Any thoughts on what’s going on?

    Thanks.

    Three additional observations on this:

    1) From today, two other posts that had shortcodes in the custom extract worked fine and were ignored, but the [yop_poll…] shortcode again produced a page of code

    2) Older polls using the [yop_poll…] shortcode are rendering fine in the extract – even after rebuilding the cache – just the most recent one seems to be going wrong

    3) The error is repeated in an RSS generated email from the site using MailChimp

Any suggestions or insights would be most welcome because it looks a real mess.

    Thanks!

A further update. Thinking the problem might be something specific to the particular polling plugin and its associated shortcode I installed a an alternative version today.

Unfortunately the problem has not gone away although thankfully the ‘nonsense’ text that appears in the extract is much shorter than with the previous one.

I would really appreciate any suggestions on how to remove it completely.

    Many thanks.
