Have you tried reinstalling the plugin?
Same thing happened on my site. After I upgraded to 4.8, the chat window is no longer visible on screen. Chrome Inspector says:
VM736:161 WebSocket connection to ‘wss://us10.zopim.com/s/W/ws/rnKm2mx4po9uInb0/c/1499872365825’ failed: Error in connection establishment: net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET
I uninstalled and reinstalled as suggested.

Found that there’s an outage: https://status.zendesk.com/
The fact that the chat disappearance coincided with my upgrade to 4.8 was probably a coincidence.
Resolving this one. Please feel free to add additional comments/open a new topic if you continue to experience problems with the plugin.
What was the resolution, I still get this error.
