Not so smart

I activated SmartLayers yesterday on my blog to see what kind of impact it would have. I really like the floating social bar on the left but as for What’s Next and Rec’d content?

What’s next seems to consistently link back to my blog’s home page, namely G-liu.com/blog. This is supposed to be a related posts feature is it not?

Recommended content shows four blocks, all linking back to my home page. This is supposed to recommend related posts, is it not?

Maybe it just takes the plugin a while to recognize how posts are related. In the meantime, is there anything I can do to fix the strange behavior of the plugin?
