• I’m using the free version of this plugin, and it worked fine initially. I created a custom user role with a modified back-end menu to remove unnecessary menu items for this specific role.

However, I’ve recently discovered that the plugin is no longer working properly. The menu items still appear, but they can’t be opened. When you click on them, access is denied (as expected), but the items remain visible.

On this website, I am using the Asset Cleanup plugin to optimize and manage the resources. Could the cache from this plugin be interfering with AAM, preventing the restricted menu items from being hidden properly?

    Thanks

Update: I tried deactivating the Asset Cleanup plugin, but the issue persists. I also tried creating a new role and a new user, but the menu items I want to hide are still visible. AAM correctly denies access when the user clicks on them, but they remain in the menu.

@edge24ema please let us know which particular admin menu item you are trying to remove. It is possible that this menu is added either with JavaScript or other, unconventional way.

I’m trying to hide menu items from the standard WordPress backend menu and admin toolbar for a specific user role. These items remain visible even though AAM correctly denies access when clicked. Since these are default WordPress menus, they shouldn’t be added via JavaScript or unconventional methods. Do you have any suggestions on how to resolve this?

@edge24ema thank you for the additional details. However, the Admin Menu service is working as expected on our end and this is a fundamental functionality. If it was not working properly, we would be getting tons of support requests from our existing customer base.

It is likely you may have some sort of database caching that aggressively caches DB queries or you may have some other plugin that removes AAM registered hooks. Try to purge your cache and if this does not help, please try to deactivate all plugins and switch to default WP theme to find out what causes the conflict.
