• Since recent updates (I think to 4), nothing autoposts when I publish a post. I’ve doublechecked all my settings, which were no different. Then I tweaked them. Still no autoposting on publication of posts.

Do we now have to manually check off and click “autopost” in the SNAP box after publishing? Was that part of the update?

These issues are with my Facebook page and Twitter, which are the ones I have set up for autoposting.

    Are you getting any errors?
Please publish a new post than check your Log/History tab and let me know what do you have there.

These are the messages I got:

    [2017-11-14 09:52:47] [User ID:1] – [Scheduled] [Tumblr (Tumblr DCL)] – Scheduled for 2017-11-14 09:52:50) PostID:(34770)
    [2017-11-14 09:52:47] [User ID:1] – [Skipped] [Facebook (Facebook page)] – Filter(Network) – Excluded – Post ID:(34770) Filter: Categories (Autopost Only): For Readers | Post Categories: For Writers|Pen to Pen|The Business of Writing|

However, no post appeared on Tumblr. And I can’t figure out why Facebook would have excluded this post since it falls under one of the filter categories.

Edit: When I went back to manually force the Tumblr post, I got “Array ( [pgID] => [isPosted] => 0 [pDate] => 2017-11-14 15:57:04 [Error] => -=ERROR=- parse error. not well formed )”. I forced it again and it worked with no errors.

    Filter:
    Categories (Autopost Only): For Readers
Post Categories: For Writers|Pen to Pen|The Business of Writing|

You set Facebook to autopost ONLY category “For Readers”. This post is assigned to 3 categories (“For Writers”, “Pen to Pen”, “The Business of Writing”). Since NONE of them is “For Readers” post was skipped.

Problem is, I did NOT set up the Facebook filters this way. Last week, I found that somehow (automagically?) this category filter had been created in the overall Settings for the entire blog, but I never made it. When I found the error, I erased it and changed the settings. The problem persisted, so I changed the filter at Accounts: Facebook: Show Settings and Accounts: Tumblr: Show Settings to filter to “include” EVERY category on my blog and saved.

You can find out about that at this support request, which has gone unanswered: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/filters-keep-resetting-to-settings-i-dont-want/

The last time I checked, all categories were in the filter. But currently I am unable to check because when I click on “show settings” for any of my social media accounts, nothing happens. That is, I get a the spinny blue “processing” circle at the left, but the settings never open, so I can’t check or change them.

Also, any idea what the “scheduled” message for Tumblr is about. That is, why it didn’t simply post?

It sounds like you have Javascript broken on your site. Please take a look at your debug console in any browser for Javascript errors.

I was able to turn off the plugin causing the javascript errors, but this still does not resolve the issues of the Tumblr posts being “scheduled” but not actually posting.

    You just said about tumblr:

    it worked with no errors

    Thread Starter dalecameronlowry

    (@dalecameronlowry)

If you read the complete sentence, you’ll see that it only worked when I manually checked it and forced it to post. It did not autopost when I hit “publish.”

That means it does not work as it used to work. Previously Autoposter always autoposted when I hit publish. As I said in this and the other help request, nothing autoposts when I hit publish.

Did you change this functionality with the 4.0 update? Am I asking for a functionality that no longer exist in this plug-in?

    (@nextscripts)

    Nothing has been changed.

“parse error. not well formed” error means that your post contains something that Tumblr can’t accept.

Are you getting this error every time you are trying to publish new post?

    Thread Starter dalecameronlowry

    (@dalecameronlowry)

Sorry. I think all the various issues going on here have led to a misunderstanding. My question is not about error messages. It is about messages like this that show up in my History Log every time I publish a post:

    [2017-11-15 11:23:02] [User ID:1] – [Scheduled] [Tumblr (Tumblr DCL)] – Scheduled for 2017-11-15 11:23:12) PostID:(34792)
    [2017-11-15 11:23:02] [User ID:1] – [Scheduled] [Facebook (Facebook page)] – Scheduled for 2017-11-15 11:23:05) PostID:(34792)

I get a message that they are “scheduled,” but never a follow-up that they are “posted.” I have to go back to the post, enter its editing screen, scroll to the SNAP meta box, tick/check the Facebook and Tumblr boxes, and hit “Post to all SNAP networks.” Then they finally post.

Do you have WP Cron setup correctly?
    http://www.nextscripts.com/tutorials/wp-cron-scheduling-tasks-in-wordpress/

Please go to the Log/History tab and check only “All Cron Events” checkbox.

You should see ONLY crons executed from WGET or Mozilla every one or two minutes. If you see nothing at all, calls from “WordPress/4.x.x” or calls made at irregular time intervals, your cron is not set correctly.

    sorry, posted to wrong forum

I have WP Cron turned off because I am using the Cron of my sitehost.

Stable cron is a requirement for SNAP to work. It doesn’t mater if you use Windows scheduler, real unix cron, WordPress Builtin Cron, your hoster’s service, or third party service like easycron. WP Cron must be triggered once every minute or two.

Please go to the Log/History tab and check only “All Cron Events” checkbox.

It should look like this (Stable cron requests every minute):

[2017-11-16 11:42:59] - [Cron Request]- 59.93s after the previous one. | Cron called from wget
[2017-11-16 11:42:01] - [Cron Request]- 59.84s after the previous one. | Cron called from wget
[2017-11-16 11:41:01] - [Cron Request]- 59.26s after the previous one. | Cron called from wget
[2017-11-16 11:40:02] - [Cron Request]- 61.92s after the previous one. | Cron called from wget
[2017-11-16 11:39:01] - [Cron Request]- 59.41s after the previous one. | Cron called from wget
[2017-11-16 11:38:01] - [Cron Request]- 59.65s after the previous one. | Cron called from wget

Thanks. I was using my host’s Cron following your directions, but it didn’t help and it interfered with other plugins. I’ve switched back to using WP Cron. I am still having the issue of not being able to autopost. I get the same “Scheduled” message, but the post never goes live until I manually push it.

Then, when I push it, it double-posts to all outlets. Argh!

To solve that, I’ve turned off autoposting for all networks and will just use manual posting as needed to prevent the double posting.

I had really been hoping to transition to paid SNAP for all my autoposting needs, but since it won’t even autopost at all despite my multiple attempts to fix it, I’m not sure what to do.
