Notification about site modifications

I wish to ask about “Automatically notifies search engines like Google and Bing about changes to your site” option.
In this case if I make a lot of the modifications one day and during modification process don’t wish to submit this “temporary” modifications to the search engines. Should I make some special configuration settings to specify time for such notification when process of the content modification will be finished.
