notification for custom post type doesn’t work

    I have a custom post type call ” free post” created by CPTU (https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/custom-post-type-ui/) , I have set the post published notification:

    trigger : post published
    recipient : {post_author_user_email}
    Type : email/merge tag

    I noticed this notification only work for default “Post” type but not for my custom post type “free post”, please advise what am I missing for the setting, Thank you
