Notification Images

I would like to include a post image in a daily notification.
Is this possible?
I do not see this option in Settings?
Thanks!

Images can only be included in the HTML emails. In the full content post they will all be there, in the excerpt they will be present if the image is in the first part of the post content.
So where and how do I configure notification emails to be html-based?
I see no option on the email templates screen.
Thanks.
You Registered Subscribers get to choose their email format in Subscribe2->Your Subscriptions when they are logged in. Public Subscribers (those who have only supplied their email and not ‘registered’) can only get a plain text excerpt email in the free version of Subscribe2.
If you want HTML emails you need Subscribe2 HTML:
http://semperplugins.com/plugins/subscribe2-html/I open “Your Subscriptions” and see only ONE notification setting titled “Receive periodic summaries of new posts”. I select “yes” and then the Update Preferences button.
I do not see where I can select the html format for the notification email so it will include the post image.
What am I missing?
Thanks,
Dana
you are using in digest mode, images added into that will need Subscribe2 HTML.
Okay, before I purchase the premium version I need to clarify what it will do for me.
I want registered users of my website to receive daily digests that include new post images along with links to the actual posts.
I (admin) will have an easy way to configure the daily digest, e.g. send the last 3 post images plus titles and links for all new posts. Please tell me what I can configure.
Is there a new screen I can see?Individual registered users have the ability to turn on/off this notification.
This plug-n does all this. Right?
Thanks,
Dana
I presume you are using Subscribe2 in digest mode now – the HTML dimly sends the email on HTML rather than plain text, so it retains any formatting from your original posts, can include featured images and any images in the excerpt (user defined, before a ‘more’ tag or approximately the first 55 words). It can also be styled to some extent so you can have a border or background image for example, all from adding HTML and styling into the template.
Yes, I am in digest mode.
What does “dimly” sends the email mean?
I am hoping to create something like the Upworthy.com notifications.
They are extremely well done!
Dana
The next version of Subscribe2 will introduce a new filter to the digest cdd that will allow much greater control over the way the digest posts are created that would allow email notifications to be created to look like that, but not in the current version and it would require a reasonable level of understanding of PHP.
Mattyrob,
I can get excellent help on the php coding.
Any idea when the next version might be available?
I could start with the current version of Subscrise2 HTML and upgrade then.
Thanks,
Dana
If you can get help try the development version of the free code first. The changes are already in there. I don’t have a timeline for the next version as yet, but maybe when WordPress 3.9.1 is released.
Hi Matthew,
I am still trying to creat an interim email notification solution that is similar to upworthiest.com and I believe you indicated was planned for your next release.
My audience is registered users.
Can I use the existing manual “Send an email notification” feature and include
Images and links using html – with either the free or premium plug-in?Thanks!
Dana
If all of your users are currently Registered then that can be set to get HTML emails and therefore will get images. Go to Subscribe2->Subscribers and then the Registered Subscribers tab, scroll to the bottom of the page and use the Bulk Management section to change them all the HTML Full emails and also register them to all categories.
Only the HTML version of Subscribe2 enables sending of HTML emails from Subscribe2->Send Email.
Great, and if I want to customize the email, i.e.,
1. Add own subject
2. design the formatCan I do both with the html version?
Thanks.
Dana
1. Using you own subject line is possible by using a little code and the ‘s2_email_subject’ filter. An example is given on the API page here:
http://subscribe2.wordpress.com/support/api/2. You will have some, but not total control over the format (at least until the next version.
