We have a setting you can turn on to remove it completely. It’s under Directory Admin->Manage Options, General tab.
However, be warned that if you have an established site with a Google ranking, removing that from the URL can cause the rank of your listings to drop until Google re-indexes and re-ranks them. The URLs are different, so Google thinks they are NOT the same anymore. If you do change the setting, make sure you:
– Flush your XML Sitemap ASAP after the change (regenerate it)
– Go to Google WMT and have Google re-crawl the site asap (you can request a manual crawl)
– If you’re super-diligent, you can do 301 redirects from all old listings with an ID to the new listings without an ID, but be sure to record all of the OLD URLs first…
